How It’s Made
As a small family business, every piece of headwear we sell is crafted entirely by us—from start to finish. That means knitting (on our gorgeous, refurbished vintage 1930s knitting machines), washing, air-drying, cutting, sewing, pressing, and packing. Not to mention the designing and colour creation!
Each piece is true artisan work, thoughtfully made and one of a kind.
Designing
Every design begins with John. He creates each design using a carefully balanced blend of eight colours that combine to form a beautifully cohesive shade. From afar, you see a rich, blended colour; up close, the subtle mix of tones reveals the detail and craftsmanship behind each piece.
This design approach sets us apart from large-scale manufacturers and ensures every item feels personal, unique, and made with genuine care. Our headwear is also designed for comfort—snug, soft, and the perfect amount of stretch for an effortless fit on all head shapes.
Our Fabric
All of our fabric is knitted in-house on our refurbished 1930s knitting machines. We don’t import pre-made fabric—we make it ourselves. This gives us complete control over quality and what goes into your headwear.
Our merino beanie wraps are made from 100% non-mulesed, cruelty-free Australian grown 17.5-micron merino wool—an incredibly fine, soft grade of merino that feels luxurious against the skin.
Certified Quality
We use wool from suppliers whose yarns meet globally recognised standards. The wool we use in our merino items is accredited by:
- Woolmark
- FSC Forest Stewardship Council
- GRS Global Recycled Standard
- RWS Responsible Wool Standard
- Detox by Greenpeace
- REACH
- OEKO-TEX Standard 100
- Bluesign
- IVN Best Naturtextil
- Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)
- ZQRX Regenerative Wool
- ZQ Natural Fibre
Ensuring high-quality, ethical, and sustainable fibre.
Quality you can feel!
Why Merino Wool?
Merino wool is one of nature’s highest-performing fibres. Some of its standout benefits include:
- Thermo-regulation – keeps you warm in cold weather and cool when it’s warm
- Ultra soft feel – 17.5 microns means it’s gentle even on sensitive skin
- Anti-odour – naturally resists smells, even with extended wear
- Moisture-management – wicks moisture away and dries quickly
- UV protection – natural sun protection built into the fibre
- Flame resistant – safer than many synthetic fibres
- Renewable & biodegradable – sustainable, earth-friendly, and returns safely to nature
- Durability – resilient, long-lasting, and maintains its shape
It’s an essential fibre for cold weather and a comfort favourite all year round.
Crafting the Product
We use up to eight individual coloured threads to knit each merino beanie wrap. After knitting, the fabric is gently washed using a sensitive, fragrance-free softener and hung to air-dry—merino dries amazingly quickly.
Once dry, the pieces are folded, measured, and checked to ensure the stretch is just right. After cutting, each piece is sewn and overlocked to prevent fraying while still allowing the edges to roll naturally.
Finally, every item is carefully pressed so it arrives ready to wear—and then it’s packed and shipped straight to you.
The Merino Beanie Wrap Process
Restocking
Because everything is handcrafted by us, restocks take time. We work continuously to keep each colour available, but quantities are limited. If a colour you love is sold out, please check back soon—new stock is added regularly as we complete each batch.
In Closing
Our merino beanie wraps are created in a way that’s truly different from large companies—because every step is done by us, with care. We don’t outsource or import what we sell. We create every piece ourselves with skill, intention, and deep respect for both the craft and the environment.
By choosing our headwear, you’re supporting a genuine small family business and receiving a high-quality, eco-friendly, long-lasting piece—made to be worn, loved, and eventually returned to the earth.
Thank you for supporting us.
We hope you adore your new headwear as much as we loved making it.
