Discover the story behind our headwear
Made in Australia by our small family business, each piece combines quality materials, thoughtful design and careful craftsmanship to create headwear that is comfortable, versatile and made to last.
The Process
-
The Design
Every design begins with John, carefully blending up to eight coloured threads to create beautifully balanced shades. From a distance, each piece appears as one rich colour; up close, the subtle mix of tones reveals the detail and craftsmanship behind every design.
-
Knitting the Fabric
As a small family business, we create our headwear entirely in-house. Our fabric is knitted using refurbished vintage 1930s knitting machines, giving us complete control over the quality, colours, and details that go into every piece.
-
Crafting the Beanie Wrap
After knitting, each piece is washed, air-dried, measured, and carefully checked to ensure the perfect stretch and feel. The fabric is then cut, sewn, overlocked, and pressed before being carefully packed and sent to you - ready to wear.
The Material
100% Australian Merino Wool
Our merino beanie wraps are made from 100% non-mulesed, cruelty-free Australian grown 17.5-micron merino wool - an incredibly fine, soft grade of merino that feels luxurious against the skin.
Why Merino Wool?
Merino wool is one of nature’s highest-performing fibres. Some of its standout benefits include:
- Thermo-regulation – keeps you warm in cold weather and cool when it’s warm
- Ultra soft feel – 17.5 microns means it’s gentle even on sensitive skin
- Anti-odour – naturally resists smells, even with extended wear
- Moisture-management – wicks moisture away and dries quickly
- UV protection – natural sun protection built into the fibre
- Flame resistant – safer than many synthetic fibres
- Renewable & biodegradable – sustainable, earth-friendly, and returns safely to nature
- Durability – resilient, long-lasting, and maintains its shape
It’s an essential fibre for cold weather and a comfort favourite all year round.

What does 17.5 micron merino wool mean?
The micron measurement refers to the fineness of the wool fibres. At 17.5 microns, our merino wool is considered super-fine, meaning the fibres are much finer and softer than traditional wool.
This creates a luxuriously soft, lightweight, and comfortable feel against the skin while still providing the natural warmth, breathability, and temperature regulation that merino wool is known for.
Why do you use vintage 1930s knitting machines?
Our refurbished vintage 1930s knitting machines allow us to create our headwear with a level of care, control, and craftsmanship that is difficult to achieve with large-scale manufacturing.
They give us the ability to knit our own fabric in-house, carefully control each design, and continue a traditional method of creating quality headwear that is made to last.
What makes your headwear different?
Our headwear is made differently because every piece is designed, knitted, and finished in-house by our small family team in Australia. From our carefully blended colour designs to our use of premium 17.5 micron merino wool, every detail is thoughtfully considered.
We combine traditional craftsmanship with modern comfort to create headwear that is soft, versatile, and made with genuine care.
