Frequently Asked Questions
We’ve put together answers to some of the most common questions about our headwear! You should be able to find everything you’re looking for right here.
Materials & Care Instructions
Why merino wool?
Our Merino Beanie Wrap is made from 100% Australian super-fine 17.5 micron merino wool, making it exceptionally soft, lightweight, and comfortable against the skin. Naturally breathable, moisture-wicking, and odour-resistant, merino wool helps regulate your body temperature to keep you warm in cooler conditions and comfortable when you're active. Whether you're exploring the outdoors, travelling, or simply enjoying everyday life, it's designed to keep you comfortable wherever the day takes you.
Is merino wool itchy or scratchy?
No! We use super-fine Merino wool, which is incredibly soft and gentle on the skin. Unlike traditional wool, it's designed to feel itch-free and comfortable for all-day wear.
Please note: If you have a wool allergy, you may still be allergic to Merino wool.
Is your merino wool sustainably sourced and cruelty-free?
We use wool from suppliers whose yarns meet globally recognised standards. The wool we use in our merino items is accredited by:
- Woolmark
- FSC Forest Stewardship Council
- GRS Global Recycled Standard
- RWS Responsible Wool Standard
and more!
Ensuring high-quality, ethical, and sustainable fibre.
Do your Merino Beanie Wraps come in other fibres, such as cotton?
We’ve experimented with materials like cotton and bamboo for our Beanie Wraps, but these fibres don’t have the same stretch, feel, or performance as Merino wool. That’s why our Beanie Wraps are made exclusively from 100% super-fine Merino wool.
The colour I want is out of stock – when will it be restocked?
Our Merino Beanie Wraps are lovingly made in small batches using our vintage 1930s knitting machines, with every item finished by hand here in Australia. Because of this, popular colours can sell out quickly.
We restock regularly as new batches are completed daily, so we recommend checking back often - your favourite colour may be available again sooner than you think.
Thank you for your patience and support!
Are the reversible colours thicker than the regular colours?
Surprisingly, no! Our reversible colours are made from the same soft, lightweight fabric as our regular colours. The difference is in the knitting technique - each side is knitted to showcase a different dominant colour, creating a beautiful reversible design without adding any extra thickness.
We’re hoping to introduce more reversible colour options in the near future and truly appreciate all the suggestions and recommendations from our customers.
How do I care for my Merino Beanie Wrap?
To keep your merino headwear looking its best, we recommend hand washing with a gentle wool detergent and laying it flat to dry. Please do not tumble dry.
Find our easy to follow "How to Wash" video tutorial here!
Since each piece is completely handmade from delicately knitted fabric, treat your headwear with care - especially around jewellery, which can catch and cause snags.
We know you’re excited to receive your headwear (and we’re excited to send it!), but please open your parcel carefully - avoid using sharp objects that could accidentally cut the fabric.
How warm is the Merino Beanie Wrap?
Even though our Merino Beanie Wraps are super lightweight, they provide incredible warmth without the bulk. They make an excellent base layer, and our customers have taken them all over the world and have been surprised by just how warm and versatile they are.
This is thanks to the natural benefits of merino wool. The fine fibres help trap warmth, regulate body temperature, and provide breathable insulation, keeping you comfortable in a wide range of conditions.

You can find men and women all wearing the same one-sized beanie wraps on our product listings.
Will it fit a child?
Yes! *7yrs and older*
Our merino beanie wraps are soft, stretchy, and adjust comfortably to smaller heads.
Tip: If creating a beanie, fold the cuff extra times for a tighter fit.
My 7-year-old granddaughter wears the Sapphire Blue Beanie Wrap, and my 10-year-old grandson wears the Black Merino Beanie. Photos of them enjoying them on our NZ mountain adventure are in the listings on the store.
Is your headwear unisex?
Yes! All our headwear is designed to be unisex, suitable for anyone who loves comfortable, stylish, and versatile accessories.
Is the Merino Beanie Wrap suitable for people experiencing hair loss?
Our Merino Beanie Wraps are made from super-soft 17.5 micron merino wool, which is much gentler and softer than traditional itchy wool. Designed with comfort in mind, they provide a soft, warm, and lightweight fit without feeling too tight or restrictive for those experiencing hair loss.
We’ve received many heartfelt comments and reviews from customers wearing their Merino Beanie Wraps during cancer treatments, who appreciate their comfort, warmth, and gentle feel. We’re grateful to be part of their journey and proud that our wraps help provide comfort when it’s needed most.
Is the Merino Beanie Wrap suitable for men?
Absolutely! Our Merino Beanie Wrap is designed to be unisex and is loved by both men and women.
As a small family business, we don't have the budget to hire professional models for every photoshoot, so most of our photos and videos feature our friends and family. More often than not, it's the girls who volunteer to be in front of the camera!
We're always looking to include more men in our photos and videos, but rest assured the Merino Beanie Wrap is designed for everyone.
Is the Merino Beanie Wrap tight or loose fitting?
Our Merino Beanie Wraps are designed with the perfect amount of stretch to comfortably fit most head sizes. As every head is different, the fit may feel slightly looser or snugger depending on your individual size and preference.
Based on customer feedback, many love that our wraps feel soft, comfortable, and secure without slipping off. Customers often tell us they can wear their Merino Beanie Wrap all day comfortably, and that they feel less restrictive than other headwear they have tried.
